🔍 Summary:
Jagex, the developer behind the popular MMORPG RuneScape, has announced a new venture into the survival game genre with “RuneScape: Dragonwilds.” Set to enter early access this spring on PC, the game introduces players to Ashenfall, a newly crafted continent within the RuneScape universe. Designed for cooperative play, Dragonwilds supports one to four players who must collaborate to build camps, master new skills, and battle a variety of powerful, magically altered creatures, including numerous dragons.
Ashenfall features two distinct regions and five unique biomes, with the possibility of additional biomes being added post-launch. While it is a different continent from the main RuneScape game, players will encounter familiar elements such as a wizard’s tower and a castle, alongside creatures like rats, trolls, and cows, albeit with fantastical, nature-infused transformations.
Key survival skills in the game include traditional RuneScape activities such as cooking and woodcutting, which have been adapted to offer new interactive experiences. For instance, players can use wind runes to glide through the air or employ a spectral axe for simultaneous woodcutting through a technique humorously named “ax-tral projection.”
Jagex plans a broader release for Dragonwilds, including a console launch, targeted for 2026. Additionally, a detailed reveal of the game is scheduled for a Twitch stream on April 15 at 9:00 AM PT.
