🔍 Summary:
Void Interactive’s first-person shooter game, “Ready or Not,” has achieved significant sales success, surpassing one million units sold on console platforms within just four days of its release. This milestone was reached much faster than its PC launch, which took 36 days to hit the same sales figure. Julio Rodriguez, CEO of Void Interactive, expressed his pride in the team’s achievement and gratitude towards players and partners for their support.
Despite the game’s commercial success, its release has not been without controversy. Changes were made to the console version of the game, including modifications to content such as dismemberment, gore, nudity, and violence, following requirements from console partners. These changes sparked backlash from parts of the gaming community, leading to a review-bomb campaign on Steam where the game’s rating dropped from “mostly positive” to “mostly negative.”
The game has also faced other challenges, including losing its publisher, Team17, shortly after confirming the inclusion of a school shooting mission. Additionally, “Ready or Not” was temporarily taken offline in 2022 due to a trademark dispute. Despite these hurdles, the game maintains strong ratings on console platforms, with scores around 4 to 4.69 out of 5 on the Xbox and PlayStation stores, respectively.
Rodriguez highlighted that the team is committed to continuously improving the game and addressing any issues to enhance player experience.
