🔍 Summary:
Players of the popular video game “Fortnite” by Epic Games are set to receive over $126 million in refunds for unwanted purchases, as announced by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). This latest refund round is part of a nearly $200 million total payout linked to a settled case against Epic Games concerning deceptive billing practices. Previously, in December 2024, the FTC had distributed more than $72 million to affected players. The total settlement amount agreed upon by Epic Games in December 2022 was $245 million.
The FTC will distribute these refunds via 969,173 checks and PayPal payments on June 25 and 26 to players who filed valid claims. Recipients are advised to cash their checks within 90 days and redeem PayPal payments within 30 days. Additionally, the FTC has reopened the claim submission process for eligible consumers who have yet to file. They have until July 9, 2025, to submit their claims through the FTC’s official website. Epic Games has not commented further on the matter, referring back to their initial announcement of the settlement.
