Android 16 Beta adds Pixel Battery health – 9to5Google

Google has introduced a new “Battery health” feature for Pixel devices with the release of Android 16 Beta 3, an update that began development in October 2022. This feature, accessible via Settings > Battery > Battery health, provides users with information about the status of their device’s battery and offers tips on how to extend its lifespan. A green checkmark indicates a “Normal” battery status. The feature includes a section on “Battery capacity,” which shows the estimated percentage of charge the battery can hold compared to its capacity when new, acknowledging that battery capacity diminishes over time.

Additionally, the “Battery health” section now includes “Charging optimization,” which has been relocated from the main menu to the bottom of the page. Currently, the Battery health feature is available on the Pixel 9 series and the Pixel 8 Pro. Users can also check the device temperature and battery cycle count through other sections in the settings, enhancing their ability to monitor and manage device performance and longevity.
